I recently graduated from Sheridan College with an Honours Bachelor of Interaction Design. Coming from a sociology background, I leverage my ability to understand human behaviour to create user experiences that are inclusive, authentic and research-driven.
My Korean heritage gives me a strong appreciation for the playfulness and creativity that influences my design work, and I like to bring a touch of that playful spirit to everything I create. Whether I'm working on a new project or simply exploring the city of Toronto, I always bring my passion for design to the forefront πͺ
Before starting my journey in design, I was previously studying Sociology at Wilfrid Laurier University. Through my studies, I was able to gain more knowledge in understanding human behaviours and social structures which greatly influenced my approach towards stepping to user-centered design.
Ultimately, I wanted to exercise more of my creativity skills. While sociology provided me with the fundamental knowledge, I felt more drawn towards projects that allowed for creative expression. This allowed me to blend my analytical skills from sociology with the creativity needed to design meaningful user experiences.
I seek to understand the pain points, challenges, and emotions of users while designing. This ensures that each voice is heard and respected allowing for solutions that are both inclusive and accessible.
Authentic design starts with a deep understanding of users' needs, experiences and values. By focusing on these, I'm able to build experiences that are true to the needs and values of the users, fostering trust and credibility.
Less is more and I aim to put more emphasis on quality than quantity. By only prioritizing essential features and minimizing unnecessary complexity, I create experiences that are straight-forward, clear and intuitive.
